Are people born leaders? Now there’s a question that can definitely be debated for a long time. Some people believe that leadership requires innate traits that an individual simply has. It can’t be learned, acquired or transferred. There’s an “it” factor for leadership.

Other people feel that leadership can most definitely be learned. It’s a type of behavior with very specific skills. And, like any other skill, it can be taught, learned, practiced and perfected.
Executive coach Leslie L. Kossoff wrote an article for About.com titled From Manager to Leader in which she offers up the idea that leadership is definitely something someone can grow into. Know yourself. Cultivate trust. Learn about your people. Build followers. You can move from management to leadership.
